I am currently experimenting a little bit with 3D printing. Roamer here was my first ever model I made specifically for a 3D print. I wanted to challenge myself a little bit so I gave him a removable base and arms that can rotate at the shoulders. He did come out well. The base fits nicely and the arms move well. I am still a traditional box modeller. The character was done in Softimage exported as a STL file via Zbrush. The joints and the cut out for the base were done in a program called netfabb. The figure was printed on an Objet printer. The Objet printers are great. The figure does look more like something carved then something that was made with a 3D printer. I am really starting to like 3D printing because you get exactly what you created. Traditional sculpting is still great but it is nice to see a figure that has the exact proportions you envisioned for it.
