Advanced drones are not made from lobotomized prisoners but from soldiers who were crippled in combat. The injured soldiers donate their brains and other useful body parts to drone service for 12 years and are entitled to a fully restored clone body afterwards. Their loved ones also receive a handsome pension during their service period. Or at least so they are told. Advanced drones are much smarter then the prisoner drones. However to prevent them from going insane in this pitiful state a lot of their brain functions like memory and higher awareness has still to be blocked. It has been known that drones started to behave strangely or even mutinied when by some chance their memories had been reactivated. Memory reactivation can happen by things ranging from seeing a loved one to the drone smelling its favourite food or drink. The Warden was a Sergeant in a corporate army before being blown to bits in the 7th interstellar trade embargo wars. He served in his prison for 9 years and almost got the drop on Bionic Bjoern when he tried to free a prisoner. However Bjoern could distract the Warden with a can of Bionik Beer, triggering an old memory of heavy drinking, and was able to overpower him.
